The River: Writing Challenge Day 6

A book. A gateway into another world.  When I am consumed by a wonderful read, I am desperate to finish the "have to dos" of my life so I can get back to the pages.  I love the feel of the cover in my hands, turning the pages with the anticipation of what is coming next, and the dread I feel when the pages left to go become fewer than those I have read.  When I am consumed by a wonderful read, there are pictures rolling through my head of what I am reading, and I hear the words speak to me, drowning out the actual world around me.  Intoxicating.

  1. Oh yes - I hate it when I get to the end of the good book. I am stymied recently as I have been reading more non fiction and, although I like that, it doesn't have the same power as a thoughtful story.

  2. I was just thinking this! I've just finished a book that from page 1, I couldn't stop thinking about. I even took it to work to sneak read during down time! And then, suddenly, I had only a few pages left and it was over. I keep thinking about it and am seriously thinking of reading it again. Right now. I never do that, but this book is still calling my name.

  3. My problem is I never just reread one book; I simply reread the series. When Robert B. Parker passed, I read every single Spenser (with an "s") book again, because I have them all. There, I've gone and done it. I will never be taken seriously again as long as I live and write-I mean, breathe, after revealing my true taste in reading.
